Ebay logo
  • Ebay - Best for selling toys, video games, books, collectibles, vintage, personal tech, and home decor. But you can really sell almost anything on Ebay, however they do take a 10% cut. You can sell basic items like household products and tools or something like antique furniture. On Ebay you have the choice to sell auction-style or by using a fixed price.

  • Poshmark - Best for selling clothing, shoes, and accessories. They charge $2.95 per sale under $15 or 20% of the sale price over $15. It’s very easy to use, just take a pic from your phone and sell immediately. Set an offer price and buyers will counter with a lower price, which you can then re-negotiate if you choose to.

  • ThredUp - Best for selling new and used women’s and kid’s clothing and accessories. ThredUp will buy your items from you and resell them at a higher price. You must request a bag, and fill it with your items for sale, send it in to ThredUp, and they will photograph and list your items. You can choose to let them sell your items piece by piece or you can accept an upfront offer right away.

  • The Real Deal - best for selling jewelry and designer goods. This is best for selling luxury items. You will send you items in and you can receive 40-85% commission.

  • Swap.com - best for selling clothing, books, toys, home decor and more. Again, you will ship in your items, and Swap.com will upload photos and sell them for you. However, you must be approved by the site to become an official seller.

  • Kidizen - best for selling children’s clothing. It will cost you 12% of the sale price, and a 50 cent listing fee, which is charged once an item sells. You can create your own virtual storefront on this site, which is great for building community. This website offers guides and tips to help you sell faster.

  • Facebook Marketplace - Best for selling cars, electronics, furniture, and appliances. All you have to do is list your items, upload photos, write a description, and set the price. Most users meet in person to exchange money, so Facebook has some precautions in place to make transactions safer.

  • Craigslist - Best for selling larger items like furniture, TVs and bikes.  However, you can sell almost anything on Craigslist.  You can also list yard sales or garage sales on this site. One downside is that most, if not all of your sales on Craigslist are to complete strangers. However, you can unload large items rather quickly with this site.

  • OfferUp - Best for selling expensive large items, but great for furniture, household items, and electronics. You can choose to sell locally or nationally, but you can only ship small items nationally. Rather than giving someone your phone number like you would on Craigslist, you can communicate through a feature on the app itself. This helps to reduce dangerous situations.
